overheard on the subway

Said by an excited child looking out the window as the F line exits the tunnel and over the Gowanus Canal:

"I can see the rooftops.  I can see the whole world.  I can see the Statue of Liberdy.  I can see the trucks and garbage."

    i like how the statue of liberty and garbage are on equal footing as something exciting to see.

    Me too.

    My subway goes above ground for one station, right before my stop, and I still get excited each time too. Even the change in sound as the train leaves the tunnel makes my heart lift.
